with Bluetooth MPPT Solar Regulator
Combat the increasing costs of energy and campsite pitches and allow yourself the flexibility to camp off grid for longer with a portable solar array.
The 240W Rigid Panel array consists of 2 x 120W Monocrystalline Panels which fold out into a 240W aluminium framed solar panel with fold out aluminium legs which can be adjusted to various angles allowing them to be positioned to your preference.
The Panel comes complete with a 20A MPPT Bluetooth Solar Regulator attached which manages input and protects your batteries from overcharge.
What is MPPT? MPPT ( Maximum Power Point Tracking ) can increase the charging efficiency and the power output of the solar system, especially in low-light or cold conditions. This improves efficiency of your panels up to 30% more than what a PWM regulator will.
Why Monocrystalline? In the Solar market there are two types of panel available, Monocrystalline and Polycrystalline. Both monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels serve the same general function of collecting energy from the sun. Both are made from silicon, but the main difference is the type of silicon solar cell they use. Monocrystalline (Black in colour), as their name suggests, have cells made from a single crystal of silicon. Polycrystalline (Dark Blue in colour) solar panels have solar cells made from many silicon fragments that are melted together. Polycrystalline cells tend to be less expensive but are not as efficient as Monocrystalline cells and tend to rely on direct sunlight to generate energy where as
Monocrystalline are more efficient in all conditions and take a better input from any natural light source, again making them much more efficient than cheaper panels.
How does Bluetooth work with solar?
The attached MPPT regulators use bluetooth connectivity enabling you to monitor the energy being created, the state of charge of your battery and also the load being used on your battery all via an app on your smartphone / tablet. The app is available to any android / iOS device. This gives you a snapshot view and also a graphical historic view over a 60 day period of what energy is being created, stored and used.
Connecting to your battery is simple and the panel provides two options of connection to a battery. The 4.5 metre solar cable has an Anderson click connector on the end, which allows you to connect with either Ring Terminal connections which can be left permanently on a battery for convenience or Crocodile clips connection. This also means that you can use the ring terminals on your primary battery and be able to charge a spare battery or engine battery by quickly connecting the solar panel to whichever you choose.
The solar panel folds down neatly into a supplied protective carry case for storage or transit.
